My name is Richard Allen Horvath Junior and my Crete Story begins on July 15, 1986, when I was only born with one arm in the town of Canton, Illinois. Growing up my dad was an over the road truck driver, so I knew what I wanted to do from a young age. In high school, I would not let my disability hold me back and I got into flying air planes and was even able to ride on a freight train with the crew a short distance from where I lived and back. After high school, I went through trucking school and was able to obtain by CDL and a federal waiver with hard work. The next nine years I perfected my skills and abilities driving for some companies that I felt did not have my interest in mind. After trying to become a local driver I felt local work was just not for me and I searched for a company to get back on the road with. Once my dad recommended Crete Carrier, who is not a Crete driver himself, I called the recruiter and he told me yes we have automatics. On May 13, I was put into an automatic truck with no questions asked, and I’m proud to say I’m still here. I like the freight base and that you guys keep me moving. Fast forward to this week, to actually two weeks ago, my last truck broke down in Cali-florida on a Saturday. Tuesday I was in a rental car going to Lincoln, Nebraska, to pick up a brand new truck which I am currently in. It’s a 2017 tractor. I’m glad to say this is the best decision I’ve made in my career.
